From Prof. Verchik

I'm Rob Verchick on the Loyola Law faculty. My wife, Heidi Molbak, and our three boys are safe and sound in Houston. It's devastating seeing the news on the television, although folks in Houston are doing their best to make us feel welcome--Six Flags is letting Louisana families in for free, which my kids appreciate. In addition to issues related to our house, we are wondering what the near term schedules of our kids' schools will look like. It's so important for kids to have regular schedules, particularly in times of stress.

One bit of perhaps obvious advice for folks whose school servers are down: you can easily create a Web-based email address on yahoo.com, msn.com, etc., to communicate with friends and loved ones outside the N.O. area.

Best of luck to you all. I appreciate reading your postings.

Rob

Update Tulane and Loyola Law

Rodolfo Batiza, was a long-time Tulane Law professor - he is 88 years old and a resident of St. Anna's nursing home (on Prytania). His family  would greatly appreciate it if anyone passing that way might be able to confirm that all is well.  You can e-mail her at jkarsten@agu.org

Chris Cotopria and his family are safe in Dallas.  Chris reports that Jonathan Nash is safe in New York and has had word from Felice Batlan.

Last I'd heard Felice was either traveling with the Hoeffel-Singer clan or was holing up at the Ritz.  Which did you do Felice?  Where are you now?

Any word on Katherine Mattes or Sheila Myers?

Rob Verchik and Heidi Molbak and their family are in Houston.

Jeff Brooks has set up a google group for Tulane Law School evacuees.  Folks who have posted there include Otis Towns (Hi Otis!), Ashley Hugunine, Jeremy Ross, Kevin Alonso, and Hutch who reports that Danielle Babaschoff and Jackie from moot court are in Tampa, Florida.

Jeff's google group also includes a post from Dean Susan Krinsky who reports that:

The Law School is in the process of setting up an official website on
Emory's server, and as soon as we have that information, we'll be back
in touch with it.  We are in Little Rock right now and are headed to
Chicago tomorrow morning, then points north--Carlos to New Jersey,
Susan to Montana or Boston or some combination.  Susan talked to Dean Ponoroff a little while ago (he is in Houston, but is on his way to
Chicago), and he hopes to have information to disseminate in the next
several days to let the student body know what to expect.

So, we can add three more to our list of "found" rather than lost.  If any one can reach Susan, I'd love to hear from her as well. I'm using a yahoo address pmetzger@levittllc.com.

Alex Williamson and his wife are safe in Birmingham.

Tina Hanson (2L) and Jennifer Hoekstra (2L) safely evacuated to Memphis and are attempting to plan how they can return or how long they must wait before returning.

Nora Mahoney (1L) also safely evacuated to Atlanta and is staying with family until more word comes.

Tina Hanson (2L) and Jennifer Hoekstra (2L) safely evacuated to Memphis and are attempting to plan how they can return or how long they must wait before returning.

Nora Mahoney (1L) also safely evacuated to Atlanta and is staying with family until more word comes, according to a blog entry by Sean Mahoney.

Lee Prieto(2L, Loyola), Jonathan Ray(2L, Loyola), and Hal Moncrief (boyfriend) are safe in Dallas.

Claire Adams (3L) and Seth Johnson (3L) made it safely to Nacogdoches, Texas.  They talked to their landlord, Louis Otto, who lives at 1031 Burdette St this morning. He says there is no standing water on Burdette street right now, and for at least 6 blocks running towards Claiborne at Burdette and Freret. There are a lot of down trees on the street.

Claire and Seth, take pity on us - any word on 901 Burdette?
